Apple Inc. is responsible for creating numerous kinds of fascinating products over the last few years. Over the years, Apple has created many of the major electronic fads of this time.
Apple totally revolutionized the electronic music players with the creation of the iPod. The iPod was released in 2001 and ever since then they have continued to progress forward.
Apple has continued to modify the original iPod, by adding in new color options, a brighter screen, more space to hold songs, and are able to now play videos and photos. They have also created different shapes and designs so that customers can choose which iPod is right for them and their life.
However, one has to wonder whether Apple will ever run out of new ideas that continue to appeal to customers. Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Inc., has found a new product that interests him, and that definitely interests customers. Jobs newest project has been the iPhones.
Since their release in June, iPhones have been flying off the shelves. Apple has already sold their millionth phone, due to customer popularity. So, what is the fascination with the iPhones? Perhaps, it is the helpful touch screen, internet capability, or the iTunes access that is the cause for interesting customers and investors. Or it could also be the very thought of combining a phone with a music player. However, it could also be because it is currently the anticipated electronic trend; people want to buy it because it is popular right now.
The 4GB iPhone will not be released on Apple’s production line any longer, due to the low customer demand for the product. Because of the price cut, the 8GB iPhone is priced at $400, which is a $200 decrease from the original price of $600. According to Philip Michaels athttp://www.macworld.com/news/2007/09/05/iphonepricecut/index.php, iPhone sales are being watched carefully by Apple Inc. and AT&T, who has paired up with Apple to sell the iPhones. The price cut angered many customers who bought the iPhone right away, when it was released. Jobs has given these customers a possible $100 credit because of the rice cut. He does say, “we want to make iPhone even more affordable for even more people this holiday season.” However, investors in Apple’s stock were not so sure about the price cut, they think that it is too early to make such a drastic price change, and that it could be risky.
I do believe that iPhone is making the right decision right now, in making the price cut. This is a clever marketing strategy for Apple, because the iPhones will be cheaper for the holiday season, so that will hopefully bring in more customers. Apple has made very good decisions before about their products, and I think that they will continue to do that with the popular iPhones.

“Apple totally revolutionized the electronic music players with the creation of the iPod.” While Apple has been so successful that Ipod has become another word for digital music or mp3 player, they didn’t exactly revolutionize the player or the technology. Rather, their success in that area has more to do with, as you put it, taking advantage of an “electronic trend; people want to buy it because it is popular right now.”
They are, of course, attempting to do the same thing with the iPhone. However, it seems unlikely that the iPod success can be repeated, given how widespread the use of cellphones are in comparison to the use of digital music players in 2001. (25/25)
